Getting a MediPendant is a smart choice for unexpected emergencies but that is only part of the solution. You still need a way for responders to get into your home even if you cannot get to the door to unlock it.

Having a secure lock box in place outside your home is a great solution.

These combination lock boxes are easy to configure and can be locked to a non-removable object (i.e. metal railing, door handle, etc.) with your house key placed inside it. The combination for the lock is saved in the database at the Central Call Station and is disclosed to the responder (if needed) when you activate your MediPendant during an emergency.

This is a smart way to prevent property damage to your home if the police needed to use force entry and helps expedite their response time. It also prevents you from having to give out extra keys to neighbors or family members. The combination to the lock can be changed as needed but just be sure to inform the call center/dealer to update the database.

According to the Fall Prevention Center of Excellence, this week is designated as Fall Prevention Awareness Week. The CDC states that more than 1/3 of all adults over the age of 65 fall at least once a year. Many of them have fallen more than once. The good news is there are many simple things you can do to prevent.

Exercise – not only does this promote better health it also improves coordination and balance which can prevent falls.

De-clutter – Make sure your house is clear of obstructions and remove any tripping hazards like loose rugs especially in the bedrooms and bathrooms.

Medications – Be sure to take any medications as prescribed. Forgetting to take prescribed medications may cause dangerous side effects like dizziness or worse, any of which could help facilitate a fall.

Not every fall can be prevented. This is why an emergency response system like the MediPendant can help you when you need it. Being prepared can mean getting help in minutes vs. hours and could save your life.

See how the MediPendant compares to other personal emergency medical alarm systems.

There are many different medical alarm devices on the market but the MediPendant is the first device that lets you speak and listen directly through the wireless pendant! You can wear it around your neck with the included breakaway neck lanyard or use the wrist or belt clip.

Don’t get fooled by similar products!

Some medical alert products offered by security companies require you to keep an existing home security system in order to use their medical pendant service. Other products only have 2 way voice at the base station where it is plugged into the phone line which would be useless if you need help outside your home or if you were too far away to hear the responder.

Accidents happen and sometimes you can’t always get to the phone to call help. Getting emergency assistance any time day or night can make all the difference to the health and well being of your loved ones.

Facts about Seniors who Fall

Did you know that more than 1/3 of adults 65 and older fall each year? (CDC 2005)

More than half of those falls occur in and around their home. (Wilkins 1999)

Our MediPendant personal emergency response device is the first wireless device that you can speak and listen directly through the pendant. The small pendant can be worn like jewelry (i.e. necklace) or clipped to your belt.

At a press of a button, the MediPendant dials out to our 24/7 Call Center with live EMT-Certified staff. Simply talk through the pendant to get help. Our Call Center can contact anyone on your call list (friends, family or neighbors) or if necessary dispatch police or EMT’s to your home.
